Post date:

SURPRISE, ARIZ., April 21, 2016 – Sun Health has hired Radha Ramamrutham, M.D., as the medical director for Sun Health at Home, a nonprofit “continuing care at home” program for Phoenix-area residents, ages 55 and above, who want to stay in their homes as they age.

Dr.Radha.RamamruthamDr. Ramamrutham, who is board certified in internal medicine and geriatrics, oversees the medical side of Sun Health at Home. She assesses applicants to determine their medical eligibility, provides guidance on long-term support and services for clients and manages the program’s quality assurance.

“We are grateful to have Dr. Ramamrutham join us,” said Terri Cluff, executive director of Sun Health at Home. “Her expertise makes her a great addition to our team.”

Sun Health launched Sun Health at Home in January. It’s the first program of its kind in the southwest. Staff members help coordinate medical and nonmedical care for members, helping them maintain independence as long as possible. Each member is paired with a personal wellness coordinator who learns the member’s likes, dislikes and care preferences, and who looks out for their health and well-being.

“Sun Health at Home is a real benefit for those who want to stay at home,” Dr. Ramamrutham said. “The health care is coming to them rather than them running around trying to get the best care.”

Dr. Ramamrutham graduated from Lady Hardinge Medical College, in New Dehli, India, in 1985. She practiced medicine in New Dehli for several years before moving to the U.S. with her son in the 1990s.

“My whole goal was to get my son a good education. We came here with practically nothing but my education and willingness to work hard.”

She completed a residency in internal medicine at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix in 1999 and a fellowship in geriatrics in 2000 at what was then called the Sun Health Geriatric Fellowship Program, now known as the Banner Family Medicine Geriatric Fellowship Program.

Dr. Ramamrutham owns her own practice, Best Medical LLC, and sees patients privately, as well as at Sun Health Senior Living’s health and rehabilitation centers at Grandview Terrace in Sun City West and La Loma Village in Litchfield Park.

Her son, Keshav Anand, is following a similar path. He is currently a second-year radiology resident at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix.
