SURPRISE, ARIZ., Oct. 16, 2017 – In recognition of November being National Diabetes Awareness Month, the Sun Health Center for Health & Wellbeing is hosting a Diabetes Expo, 8:30 a.m. to noon, Friday, Nov. 10, at The Colonnade, 19116 N. Colonnade Way.
This free community event, sponsored by the Arizona Community Foundation, will feature experts on managing and preventing diabetes and prediabetes.
Keynote speakers include Banner Health endocrinologist Harmeet Narula, M.D., who will discuss current and emerging treatments for older adults with diabetes, and Tharesh Udupa, DPM, a doctor of podiatry and wound care specialist from the CORE Institute, who will address foot care for people with diabetes and how to manage and minimize other complications caused by the disease.
Certified diabetes educators/registered dietitians and an exercise physiologist from the Sun Health Center for Health & Wellbeing will share information about Medicare benefits for diabetes education and support, as well as possible coverage for prediabetes education now being considered by Medicare. Vendors from companies who serve people with diabetes will also be on hand.
