SURPRISE, ARIZ., Nov. 27, 2018 – Sun Health recently hired registered nurse Karlene Rood as the Wellness Coordinator for its Sun Health At Home (SHAH) program, Arizona’s first and only Continuing Care At Home program.
Over her 34-year career as a nurse, the Ohio native has worked in a variety of clinical settings including the emergency department, home health, hemodialysis and psychiatric/chemical dependency. Most recently, she supervised the preoperative and post anesthesia care units at an ambulatory surgery center, where she also served as an interim administrator.
“Karlene’s wide range of nursing skills, management experience and genuine compassion make her an excellent choice for this position. Our members are already praising her for her responsiveness and helpfulness,” said Barbara Mason, executive director of SHAH.
Ms. Rood graduated from the St. Elizabeth Hospital, School of Nursing, in Youngstown, Ohio in 1984.
In her spare time, Ms. Rood enjoys volunteering for animal rescue shelters such as 4 Paws and Fallen Feathers.
The SHAH program is regulated by the Arizona Department of Insurance and has grown to 68 members since it launched in 2016. In exchange for an entrance fee and monthly fees, SHAH members are comprehensively covered for long-term care, wellness and other nonmedical needs, which are managed by the Wellness Coordinator.
