Each month, almost 1,000 new children enter Arizona’s foster care system, which is already overflowing with more than 14,000 young people, many seeking a safe family environment. There is an urgent need for more foster parents but there are many other ways to help kids in foster care that don’t require as big of a commitment. You can:
- Volunteer for a foster care or adoption agency
- Mentor a child in foster care
- Tutor a child in foster care
- Serve as a court-appointed advocate
- Help repair bicycles for foster kids
Learn more at the Foster Care Awareness Day, Saturday, July 20, 9 a.m. to noon, at The Colonnade, 19116 Colonnade Way, Surprise
Agency representatives will share information and answer questions. The newly launched Children’s Heart Gallery, featuring photos and biographies of children seeking adoption, will be displayed. Continental breakfast available (donations appreciated). Chair massages for a small donation.
