A big congratulations are in order for Grandview Terrace (GVT) Executive Chef Tracey McCarthy, who has been promoted to a Regional Executive Chef by Morrison Living. The designation is very special as Tracey is the only woman in Arizona and one of three women in the entire country with this designation.
Tracey shares that she is very proud of this honor because she believes the culinary field with a workforce historically made up of men is starting to recognize women can do the job too.
“What it means to me is that the demographic of female executive chefs is changing and I happen to be part of that dynamic,” Tracey shares. “It also reinforces my belief that passion, drive and integrity will always overcome any possible adversity.”
As a regional executive chef, Tracey is responsible for overseeing the creation of menus, purchasing, hiring and equipment. She says her favorite days working at GVT are the ones where she gets to work with the team to create special memories.
“First, the job is extremely creative and rewarding because you get instant results and feedback and if something goes wrong, you can fix it right away,” says the chef. “We get the opportunity to prepare special foods for anniversaries and be creative for birthdays. If a resident wants something special on their birthday, we will do it. It’s about creating memories with food for our residents and families. That is what I love about working within a community like Grandview Terrace. We get those opportunities.”
We are proud of Tracey and excited to hear more about what she will continue to bring to Grandview Terrace in her new role at Morrison Living.
