With a Sun Health At Home (SHAH) membership, one of the most valuable benefits members receive is access to a dedicated Wellness Coordinator—someone who provides guidance, care coordination, and peace of mind. As the Sun Health At Home program continues to grow, so does the team behind it, welcoming new faces who are deeply committed to supporting members as they age safely and confidently in their homes. One of those faces is Rhonda, a Wellness Coordinator whose passion for health and wellbeing has shaped her entire career.

Rhonda’s journey into the health, medical, and wellness fields began early in life. Growing up with two brothers who lived with cystic fibrosis, she witnessed firsthand the challenges of managing chronic illness. Those experiences left a lasting impression and inspired her lifelong commitment to helping people stay as healthy and strong as possible. From that point on, Rhonda knew she wanted to make a meaningful difference in others’ lives.

That passion led her to a career spanning almost 35 years in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation and other healthcare fields. Throughout her work, Rhonda focused on improving physical function, promoting wellness, and helping individuals regain confidence in their body’s ability to recover. Her background provides a strong foundation for her current role, where she blends clinical knowledge with compassionate, personalized support.

Rhonda is also no stranger to Sun Health. Earlier in her career, she spent time with the organization during the development and establishment of the Center for Health & Wellbeing. Returning now as a Wellness Coordinator feels like coming home. She shares that being part of Sun Health’s mission once again has been incredibly meaningful and fulfilling.

After her morning cup of coffee, Rhonda looks forward to connecting with members through check-in phone calls, home visits, and assistance with transportation to medical appointments. She is often a trusted resource—answering questions, addressing concerns, and helping members navigate their care with confidence. As Rhonda puts it, “It’s been really amazing. I just love it. Being able to positively impact the SHAH members, helping them be successful and safe in their home as they desire to age in place is wonderful.”

One of Rhonda’s key goals as a Wellness Coordinator is to promote physical activity education and fall prevention awareness. She works closely with members to encourage lower-body strength, safe home environments, proper hydration, and wearing correct footwear—all essential components of healthy and safe aging. These small, proactive steps can make a big difference in maintaining independence and overall wellbeing.

Ultimately, Rhonda’s greatest motivation comes from seeing positive changes in others. “Making a positive difference in someone’s life is very rewarding,” she says.

Outside of work, Rhonda enjoys cooking Italian food and exploring Arizona through hiking. One of her proudest accomplishments is completing the rim-to-rim hike of the Grand Canyon—a challenging 24-mile journey she has completed several times.
