  3. Doggone it! La Loma Village Appears to Have Gone to the Dogs

Post date:

Residents at La Loma Village joined thousands around the U.S. by getting out photos of their beloved pets to show off to others in honor of National Dog Day.

National Dog Day honors family dogs and dogs that work selflessly to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort. Dogs put their lives on the line every day – protecting our families and homes, for their law enforcement partner, for their blind companion, for the disabled, for our freedom and safety by detecting bombs and drugs and helping to locate and rescue victims of accidents and tragedy.

It’s great to see the love La Loma Village has for its four-legged friends. I am sure many would agree with what Doris Day had to say about the special bond you can have with a dog.

“I have found that when you are deeply troubled, there are things you get from the silent devoted companionship of a dog that you can get from no other source.” – Doris Day

And here is a fun fact to ponder as we think about the pets in our lives. Have you ever wondered why dogs have wet noses?

It turns out dog’s noses are wet to help them absorb scent chemicals. A dog’s nose secretes a special mucus that helps to absorb these chemicals and then they lick their noses to sample them, helping them understand what the smell is.
